MAPVIE turns a place — or a moment — into wall art.
Every map here is drawn by the person who orders it. You choose the place, the layout, the style, the words and the size, and you watch the poster take shape as you go. What you see on screen is what gets printed — there is no proof to wait for and no interpretation in between.
Who makes it
MAPVIE is the work of a graphic designer with thirty years of experience and a background in printing. The map styles, the night skies, the layouts and the typefaces were drawn and measured by hand, not assembled from a template.
It comes from the same workshop as ArtPrintsVicky, where we have been designing, printing and shipping wall art for years — first on Etsy, later from our own shop. What we charge
We believe our prices are fair for the quality we offer — both in our physical prints and our digital files.
They stay the same all year round: no flash sales, no countdowns and no newsletter to sign up to. Instead there are two simple offers, open to everyone:
- 15% off three or more maps — any mix of maps, sizes and finishes, including our Sets of 3. It is taken off automatically in your cart.
- 25% off three or more maps from Black Friday to Cyber Monday — once a year.
As our costs change, our prices may change with them — but never to make a discount look bigger.
Fair, consistent and straightforward.
What we send you
Your order, and nothing else. There is no newsletter to sign up to, because there is no newsletter. We will write to you about the order you placed and, if you leave a checkout unfinished, once to remind you. That is all — your email is not a list we are building.
How it is printed
Posters are printed at 300 dpi by professional labs in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, and shipped from whichever one is closest to you. Unframed prints on 230 gsm matte paper, framed prints in black, white or natural wood, and gallery-wrapped canvas.
Anywhere else in the world, and anywhere you would rather print it yourself, the same design is available as a print-ready digital file. What each one is made of is set out on the Materials page.
The map data
Every road, park and river comes from OpenStreetMap, the map the world builds together. We redraw it in our own styles, but the geography is the work of thousands of people who mapped their own streets.
On the country and world posters, the borders, coastlines and place names come from Natural Earth, geoBoundaries and GeoNames, alongside OpenStreetMap.
On the star maps, the stars come from the Yale Bright Star Catalogue, the constellation figures from the IAU and Sky & Telescope by way of d3-celestial, and the Milky Way is derived from a panorama by ESO/S. Brunier.
